Frequently Asked Questions

The Jan Craig Headcovers Custom Design Tool

When I choose a multicolor pom or tassel, do the different colors come in equal amounts?

No. Unless the option to "Distribute Colors in Equal Parts" is selected, the first color you select will be the primary color in the pom or tassel.

Can you make a pom or tassel with different color proportions than what's shown in the virtual designer?

Yes. This would be a "Special Request" that you would detail for us in the appropriate box near the end of the design process.

Will my cover arrive looking exactly like what I created in the virtual headcover designer?

The best answer we can give you is that it will be darn close. As a handmade product, there is certainly room for nuance ie: the "fleck color" that you selected in the pom does not appear in the exact same place as in the digital rendering.

That said, we encourage you to reach out should your needs be very specific. We can always share photo examples or yarn samples in order to instill confidence prior to an order being placed.

Cleaning & Repair

How can the covers be cleaned?

Our headcovers are made to last. With the proper care, they can bear witness to your every shot for years. When first using your new Jan Craig Headcover, give your poms a firm but careful shake in order to bring back the fluff that may have been compressed in transit. When it’s time to put your set in play, pull each cover off the club by grasping the head of the sock portion rather than the pom or tassel topping.

Your Jan Craig Headcovers are 100% wool and should be dry cleaned. If dry cleaning is not an option, you may also hand wash the sock portion (as you would a 100% wool sweater), but do not wash the pom or tassel topping. To brighten up a pom that has experienced a lot of use, take some sharp scissors and trim the outer layer of the pom.

Should you ever have any other issue with your headcovers, please reach out.

Special Requests

Should I consider adding extra length to my headcovers?

We make our driver headcovers four inches longer than our fairway and hybrid headcovers (14" vs. 10" when measuring just the necks). We believe our standard lengths match the preference of most golfers and, therefore, don't necessarily recommend adding extra length. If you would prefer the extra protection for the club shafts, however, extra length is the way to go.

Can you do “bulk" orders for outings, events, or tournaments?

Yes. We would love to work with you on a larger order and just require enough advance notice to have the custom headcovers ready prior to the event.

Can you do designs on the covers that go beyond stripes, numerals, and initials?

The simple answer is “it depends”. The knitting pattern, or stitch, doesn’t lend itself to highly intricate designs but a basic one might be possible. When in doubt, please reach out to our team to discuss your vision.

Do you offer logo embroidery?

Logo embroidery is currently only offered to our green grass/wholesale partners. We do occasionally make exceptions when it comes to bulk buys for events, outings, or giftings in which the headcover buyer owns the rights to the logo being used.

Returns & Exchanges

Can I return my order?

Every Jan Craig Headcover is 100% knit by hand. Any headcover ordered using our design tool - rather than through our "In Stock Features" page - is handknit exactly to the specifications requested. These one-of-a-kind pieces are final sale.

For pre-knit items ordered from our "In-Stock Features" collection, we have a 30-day return policy from the day the order was placed. To be eligible for a return, your item must be in the same condition that you received it, unused, with tags, and in its original packaging. You’ll also need the order confirmation or proof of purchase.

If your return is accepted, we’ll provide next steps and the correct return address. Items sent back to us without first requesting a return will not be accepted.

You can always contact us for any return question at info@jancraigheadcovers.com.
