The Jan Craig Virtual Headcover Designer
When I choose a 2 or 3 color pom or tassel, do the different colors come in unequal amounts?
Yes. The first color you select will be the color that most populates the pom or tassel and the virtual image reflects that (we use more of that color yarn in constructing the actual real-life pom/tassel). In the case of a 3 color pom or tassel, equal amounts of the second and third colors are shown in the virtual image (likewise, we use equal amounts of those yarn colors in constructing the real pom/tassel).

Can you make a pom or tassel with different color proportions than what's shown in the virtual designer?
Yes. This would be a "special request" that you would detail for us in the appropriate box near the end of the Design Your Cover process. For example, you may want a 2 or 3 color pom/tassel with equal amounts of each color. Again, because we make every cover to your order specs, we can do just about anything. And while our virtual image can't show you what your special request would look like, you may be able to get an idea by looking closely at the different colors (and their proportions) in some of the poms/tassels of actual covers included in our Gallery section.

Will my cover arrive looking exactly like what I created in the virtual headcover designer?
The best answer we can give you is it will be darn close. The sleeve with its stripe(s) (or numerals or initials, if applicable) will be very much like you created. The pom/tassel will be much like your design but the actual construction of a pom or a tassel mandates a touch of randomness as to how the individual color strands will "fan out" in the actual finished product. For example, we can guarantee if you want red flecks, you'll get red flecks...we just can't promise exactly where those flecks will occur in the actual pom or tassel. A quick trip through our Gallery section should give you a good sense that this randomness lends itself to uniqueness.

Cleaning & Repair
How can the covers be cleaned?
They should be dry cleaned because they’re made with 100% wool. The sock or sleeve portion of the covers can be hand washed with Woolite or a similar product — but DO NOT hand wash the pom-pom or tassel! To brighten up a pom-pom that has experienced a lot of use, trim the outer edges of the pom with sharp scissors; this will help “reveal” the unworn portion of the pom-pom.

Can a damaged cover be repaired?
Yes. Whether it’s due to moth damage, a Tommy Bolt moment, or something else – we can fix a hole, loose end, or the like – usually free of charge. Just ship the cover back to us with your name, phone number, return address, and a check for $8.00 (to cover the return shipping charges).

Special Requests
Should I consider adding extra inches to my covers?
We make our driver covers four inches longer than our fairway and hybrid covers (14" vs. 10"). We believe our standard lengths match the preference of most golfers. We do not recommend adding inches to driver covers but some golfers do want them extra long. Most of the extra length requests we get come in connection with orders for fairways and hybrids.

Can you do “volume” orders for outings, events or tournaments?
Yes we can; we just need enough advance notice to have them ready prior to the event.

Can you do designs on the covers that go beyond stripes, numerals and initials?
The simple answer is “it depends”. The knitting pattern, or stitch, doesn’t lend itself to highly intricate designs but a basic one might be possible.

I want to give your covers as a gift but I don’t know what clubs the recipient carries in their bag. What do I do?

Shipping
When will I receive my custom headcovers?
Because of the care we take in hand-crafting your cover to your design specifications it will take about three weeks to complete your covers.

Do you carry any inventory of covers so that I can get them right away?
We try to keep in stock a few of our most popular color combinations like red/white, black/white and navy/white. Check our Shop page to see if we have the colors, style and club selection you are looking for. If we have them, we can ship them right away.

I’m leaving for Scotland in a couple of days; can you ship in-stock covers using overnight express?
We can but we need you to call us with your order and your special shipping request.

Do you ship overseas? How do you handle customs?
Yes. We use UPS, who handles all the paperwork and payment duties. Keep in mind that our shipping charges cover Jan Craig’s costs & fees for shipping internationally via UPS; depending on your country of residence you may be subject to additional customs/duties upon receipt of our U.S.-made headcovers.
